Default Noise while turning - not the struts?

About a month ago my 06 Civic made a noise while turning. I took it to the dealership and they said that the front left strut needed to be replace. They wanted $550 to replace just one strut, so I took it to my local mechanic and had both done for $600.

The sound went away for a couple of weeks but now it's coming back. Right now I can only hear it when I turn to the right at low speeds. It's coming from the front driver side wheel.

Any ideas what this might be? Do you think the dealership misdiagnosed it and I wasted $600 on the new struts?

check the cv boots for tearing, it could be your cv joints clicking.

What does it sound like? Is it a clicking? How about a 'pop' noise?

It could be the axle like jprommel suggested, or possibly a ball joint.

It's a popping noise. It's not very loud but it doesn't sound very good.

Thanks for the reply. I wonder if I didn't need to have the struts done.

popping could be the lower ball joint (I think your Civic has them, lol)
