Default Oil Light

Last night while i went out to drop some one off the oil light started to come on for a second or so and then go off, there doesnt seem any pattern to when it does it like round corners etc, but i havent really drove it far enough to see a pattern from it, i checked the oil level, and that seems ok, if it was a bad pump or sensor, i would have a CEL right?

Ill give it an oil change as soon as i can, as in the last two weeks a drove 3300 km Driving to England

Thats really wierd.. That light never seems to come on until you've got like 4psi of pressure, and usually by that point, you're doomed anyway. I'd get it checked out, REAL soon

Check to see if your oil pressure sensor is still attached. Aside from that, I dont even know what you should be looking for.

back of the block, by the oil filter, look up and in from underneath the car.

This could be normal if there's a problem with the idle that it goes so low that the engine almost stalls. You probably would've noticed that or experienced actuall stalling though.

Change the oil and filter immediately and see if that helps. The oil could be thinned out or the filter clogged.

A garage would temporarily attach a dial pressure gauge to the engine and measure the true oil pressure to see if it's really low.

I don't think you'll tell much by looking at the sensor, it is a switch to ground so if the wire comes off the light will never come on. Maybe it is turning on the light when it shouldn't, you could put a new sensor on.

all very good speedy help thanks guys mutch apreciated i will do the oil change this weekened. and see how it goes, ive read alot of horror stories on the net though, so i hope its not so bad. This oil light has nothing to do with the transmission oil right? as i changed this before i drove over to England, but i have done 3200 km since then i think the light will have come on sooner if it was something to do with that. ill let tou know how it goes

The transmission oil is completely seperate. There is no warning system for low transmission oil.
