Arrow Polishing Valve Cover

OK i have dressed up under the hood and installed some new parts. Now i'm ready to Polish me Valve cover. Can anybody give me some tips. Do's and dont's. I know i want to polish it , not paint it . How should i go about this? I know how to get the valve cover off. I'm just not sure how to go about the polishing process. Sanding and all that. What grit. Can i soak the valve cover in somthing to remove the dirt , oil , and other debri ? Or should i just use a warm soap and water? Any certain type of polishing compund or buffing pad i should use . What are some things i should know about or look out for before i get into this project?

First, get rid of all the blue wire look. The way to clean up a bay is to hide wires and stuff, not bring all the attention to them.

For polishing, its a long process that you will probably get tired of fast. Get some degreaser and spray it down real good to remover all dirt, grease, and oil. Start will about 800 grit paper and wetsand your way up to at least 1500 grit. Then use some rubbing compound and buff it out to a shine. It will take at least 8 hours to truly polish. I know a few people who have done it and said they wouldn't do it again.

gonna take lots of time to do it. clean it with degreaser, soap and water to clean up the valve cover. use sandpaper start with maybe 300 or 400 grit and go up from there. use rubbing compound to polish it up.
