Default Problems with 2001 honda civic lx

i have a 2001 honda civic lx & i was at a stop sign i pushed the gas to go & it suddenly died on me now when i try to start it it stays on for only a second then shuts off everyone my husband & i have come across says its the fuel pump but he checked it & he says it was fine now we are at a stand still as to what the problem could be so anyone with any suggestions will be helpful.

Is the check engine light on? How did he check the fuel pump?

Check the distributor (igniter and coil)...

have someone stand back by the gas tank, turn the key until the auxillery comes on, you should be able to hear the fuel pump pressurize. If you cant hear that, its probably the pump. Otherwise, your not getting a spark if you can hear the starter turning over, check the ignition coil inside the distributor with a ohm tester, low side is like 12.5 high side is 19.0

well i got impatient so i took my car in to be put up on the diagnostic machine & well it said that it was my crank shaft ignition sensor & that i needed a new timing belt & i needed a new waterpump. Soo i hella appreciate ur help & suggestions thank you everyone.

yup, I talked to a Honda certified mechanic at the garage , he's been there 12 years and he told me in all his life he's never replaced a Honda fuel pump...
