Default Rebuild question.

Hey im rebuilding my engine. Heads pistons and rod are at the machine shop. I have the block with me and i would like to wash it. What can i use to do it?? it is an iron block, can i use soap and water? or what?

i mean the whole block. exterior and the cylinders are, for then painting the exterior

well if all the other parts are at the machine shop.... then id say go ahead and take the block thier to be cleaned..... thier cleaning tanks are 300% beter than anything you could do in your garage!

realy blast away in the cracks realy good! i wouldnt cheap out...

just drop off block and ask for it to be droped in the hot tank.

Iron block? I'm pretty sure it is aluminum. Have the shop clean it for you, they would do a much better job then you could in your garage.
