Default Reverse lights not working...

What could be the problem if my reverse lights aren't working? the bulbs are good, and the fuse is fine...where is the reverse switch on the tranny? thanks

On a manual the switch is on the transmission, I think it is on top near the engine. Basically it's the only electrical part on the transmission other than the VSS. On an automatic it's at the shift lever.

If the lights are on a movable hatch or trunk lid, the wire could have broken where it flexes every time the lid is opened.

ok ill look at that but i believe the wires are fine and its a manual..Is it hard to check to see if the switch itself is bad?

To check the switch unplug it and jump the two wires in the car together, lights should then come on all the time the key is on. If they don't see if there is voltage on the wires, if not check fuse, etc-- if it is keep checking for voltage all the way back to the the lights. When wires break like that they will look OK on the outside but the copper inside is broken.
