Default service lights

Hey everyone from bar harbor maine,

I just bought a 1996 honda civic hatchback dx. The check engine light is on as well as the srs light. Once in awhile it hesitates when i press on and off the gas. I pulled the battery cord of and back on the check engine light went off but soon back on again. the srs remains on. Im working on this car myself and would like to stay kinda cheap on fixing it, i have my own shop in other words any ideas on what to do. all in all its a great car love it always had hondas just sold my 89 accord sei loved it.

Thanks

take it to Autozone and have them pull the codes for you. Then look up what the codes mean, and you have an answer to why you're throwing a CEL. its that simple.
