It is also a must to use Honda power steering fluid. Other fluids don't necessarily have to be a Honda product.

as far as the tranny oil goes, MY manual says you can substitute 5-30 motor oil for genuine honda oil for a SHORT time. just throwing that out there.

"SHORT time" is key. But, if avoidable, why put tranny fluid in just short term? This would seem a waste of time and money.
