Speedometer doesnt work??
i recently removed and rebuilt the motor in my 89 honda cizic hatcback but the speedo hasnt worked since, how can i fix this problem, it worked before i removed the engine and i didnt remove the tranny when i did that.
The 89 speedometer is mechanical. Check that the cable is all the way into the socket on the transmission and the clip is secure. Then pull the clip off and take the cable out, pull the center part of the cable out of the housing to be sure it is not broken. It should be cut down to a square shape on the end where it goes into the speedometer. If you only pull part of it out and don't find the square end, you need a new cable.
thank you mk378
it was broken, i did replace it but it only worked for about 5 mins, i was going about 40KM/H and the speedo just dropped back down to 0, ive tried pushin the one end deeper into the tranny and ive made sure it was attached to to cluster right but nothing still

You need to get the key on the drive end fully engaged in the slot in the transmission. If it's not it won't go in all the way. You would not be able to pull it out without removing the clip if it is together properly.
