stranded car help
I have posted a few threads on this site and you guys have been most helpful but im still having issues. Yesterday my car would not start but after 10 or so tries it did. Today it died while driving but started right back up then 20 mins later it died in the drive thru and would not start back up at all. I even came back 30 mins later and tried again. Sadly it is still at burger king. The last i checked the ecu was showing a 10 and a 7. I know that 10 is something in the distributor but i just replaced the distributor and 7 is the throttle position sensor. I have tried to find a throttle position sensor at my local parts store and have been told that they do not have it. I looked at auto zone on line and all they have is universal. I dont even know if im looking in the right direction or what. Does anyone else have any ideas.
Try unplugging your throttle position sensor and if that doesn't work replace your plugs and check the dist. cap and rotor button, also check to see if your fuel pump is coming on you should be able to hear it if you listen close when you turn the key on.
I have replaced the throttle position sensor and the pulgs are fairly new as well as the cap rotor and distributor. I unpluged the sensor and tried to start with no luck. I also listened for the fuel pump i did not hear a click or anything but i did hear some kind of movement. the car acts like it wants to start and will rev a litlle when i try to start for a very brief second.
As Hobo suggests, if you don't hear the fuel pump prime, then the main relay may be bad. Nonetheless, before you replace anything, also check for spark at the plugs as detailed at the link in my signature.
Also clear codes from the ECU (remove the hood Hazard fuse for a few minutes) and then crank the engine to see whether any new codes are set.
Post the results of these tests.

I am not hearing a hum but i tested the fuel pressure and when i crank it it jumps to 35 then quickly goes back down to 20. I also checked all the plugs and wires they are good except i had oil on cylinder 1. I also had the brake engaged while trying to crank and the light stayed on while cranking.
