i went to find out what codes my check engine light is putting out and counted the blinking and came out with 45, i looked that up and it could go two ways, either my engine is running lean or its running rich, thats what the 2 codes were for 45.. how can i tell whch code it is? and how do i fix this?

 

o yeah just so ya know my car is a USDM 1.6L HX coupe with vtec-e, a DIY short-ram intake, a mini breather to replcae the breather tube that runs from the intake to the oil, and an HKS hi-power exhaust system...

 

45? Are you OBD-2? How long have you had the CEL? Have you tried resetting it to see if it comes back?

Was it 4 long blinks and 5 short ones, or 4 long and then 5 long ones? Because it could be throwing 2 different codes.

 

yea its obd-2, the CEL's been on for a while but i never learned how to check it till just recently and its throwing 4 long and 5 short

 

what do the plugs look like.

Take the spark plugs out and then look at the bottom tell us if they are black or brown or white. othewise post some picts up on hear and we will help from there.

PS> black is rich, brown is about right and white is lean
