I've got a pivot 5 wire tach. I cant find ANYTHING on how to install these. The diagram goes as following. Yellow s(-), Black (to shift light) 2 wires (+), Orange - Sum, Black-Gnd, Red- Ig(+), White- M-im......

These are off the circut board inside the tach....i can not find anything online, this tach was free and i only want it for the shift light. I do not plan to buy another because its not somthing i really need, i just want to see if i can get the one i have to work. Any help is appreciated, the most importent thing i need to know is what the ig wire goes to, is that just power, or something that needs to be wired to the ignition, and the m-im wire.

 

ig would be ignition, i'm pretty sure you can attach it to anything that has constant power when the car is on, the white wire is usually a backlight (if it has one that's probably what that is, and you would want to connect it to a wire in your dimmer switch so it goes on with the other dash lights)

 

okay, and white wire to tach wire i guess.....the guy who gave it to me, do i need a diode between the tach wire and gauge, i have read somewhere about needing one, not really sure. Spent like four hours on it and could not figure the damn thing out, i have wired 4 wires ones in like 30 minutes....
