Default Thermostat maybe?

Hai. Im curious to see if someone can help. I did some more research on problems it could be a blown head gasket but my car does not have alot of the problems it says you will experience. Im thinking the thermostat may be messed up cause it after a while steadily goes up beyond normal.

You wont have all the symptoms. It all depends on where the leak is coming from.

What are your symptoms, Overheating? When? Do the fans turn on?

Yes overheating mainly if I'm idle but then I blast the heat and it goes back down. I'm going tomorrow to see if a thermostat fixes it if not I'm going down to my dads on Christmas and he is going to test the fan. Just gotta keep a close eye on the coolant. And from what I see there is no leak

You can jump the fan switch by sticking a paper clip into the harness side of the plug and then putting the key into the ignition. Fairly easy to test the fan switch.

Default possible fan shortage?

I went to a mechanic today and he tested the fan and the motor and fan work but the only way he could get it to work was hooking the fan to the battery so that it would run when i would turn the car on and then it would turn off when i turned the car off. Once he fixed the fan the car stopped overheating. Is there anyway other to get the fan to run other then that way? Cant really afford another relay at the moment especially if thats not the problem. Any ideas?

To fix properly first you need to undo what the "mechanic" did. There are 3 or 4 relays in the fuse box all the same type. So you can check the fan relay without needing to buy a new one by swapping it with one from a different system such as the rear defroster.
