I got a question regarding this tick tick noise when i start my car up in the morning. it only ticks for about 5-10 min ntil the engine heats up a bit then it goes away. almost like its a sound of a bad piston ring but if it was wouldnt it always be ticking? it doesnt tick when i rev it up only when it is idled. any ideas?

 

Could be time for valve clearance adjustment. Civics don't have valve lifters, there is a screw on the end of each rocker arm to adjust the clearance and compensate for wear.

 

Piston rattle gets worse with operating temperature. mk378 knows his stuff - get a feeler gauge, a new valve cover gasket, and adjust them valves.
