Exclamation tranny problems any help appreciated

i have a 2001 civic lx and just today luckly a few minutes from home it stopped shifting into 2nd and was reving really high and was making a shuddering sound. i assume its slipping....and its f***ed so i was wondering what my options were or if there was anything i could do without replacing the whole tranny or if a 98 civic tranny would fit? thanks any help appreciated

A transmission from a 98 will not fit. Only something from a 2001-2005 will.

Ah, being an automatic makes more sense.

The 96-00 Civic uses a transmission that only fits on D15/D16 engines. The 01-05 Civics have a D17 platform so the transmission won't swap.

The 7th generation Civic (2001-2005) was known for its really weak automatic transmissions. You might try doing a search in the forum for more research. There is quite a bit on this topic.
