Update on 1997 Civic that wont start

Default Update on 1997 Civic that wont start, Fixed, Thanks

Cleaning the battery terminals did the trick. Thanks for the help.

Don't start new threads about the same problem.

I stand by my original diagnosis. It takes more power to run the brake lights than it seems your battery is able to deliver. Try jump-starting the car.

I'll bet you have a loose or corroded battery terminal. Tighten both, first and if that doesn't work, clean each and retighten. Of course, it could be the connection at the engine block (ground) but more likely, it is at the battery terminals.

I just recently had the same problem. It was the positive battery connection that was loose. I'm glad to see it was that simple of a fix for you as well.
