k here is the scoop. I recently bought a 90 honda civic that had a motor swap done to it. The motor is a B16A. I had allready put alot of time and money into this car. Replaced hood, windsheild, passenger side axle and tran seal, gas line, tires, brakes, injectors, intake manifold, and throttle body. When I got the car the VTEC worked fine, and ECU is a ODB-0. But about 2 months ago it stoped working. I thought changing the intake manifold and injectors and throttle body would fix it and it did not. I have read alot more since then but still dont know y it wont work. Around the time it stoped working it would act like it wanted to kick it but only would for bout 2-3 sec. I have 3 codes going on my ECU. They are a 10, 9, and a 14. the 10 and the 14 I think will go away as soon as I reset the system by unpluging the batt. And I believe that will do because my car was over heating after it was on for about 20 mins. I found a crack in on of my coolent lines and replaced it. Now the car dont over heat anymore. It may seem like I know bout this stuff but reality is I am a new b, so still learning and would appricate any advice and help.

 

The VTEC will not engage while the CEL is on for any code. Code 9 could be a bad distributor, wrong distributor for the car, or wired wrong.

 

c thats the thing the engine light has been on since I bought the car and the vtec work then.

 

Bottom line is don't expect a car to run properly while the CEL is on. Resolve all codes first.
