Default Valve adjustment then screwed.

I took my 95 civic to a small shop to get the valves adjusted, I ended up leaving later and my car started to die on me and the idle was all out of whack. I told them this and they said I can bring it back tomorrow and they'll fix whatever the problem is, but I got home and I was checking it out and two of my valve cover bolts were broken and just spinning, do you think thats my problem with the dying and erratic idle? It was fine idling before I brought it to them. And can I buy new valve cover bolts and a gasket from advance? Thanks in advance guys, i've been super pissed off all day now.

Don't do anything, bring it back, if you do something to it now they gonna said you tamper it.

alright. Im just going to leave it and bring it back. He said they'll fix it but he was leaning more toward the throttle body and stuff which is bs because it was fine when I brought it to them.

check your throttle cable, i think it hook onto a bracket, maybe it too tight.. pop it off the bracket and see if idle would change.

Valves adjusted too tight will make it idle badly (dead cylinders / misfiring), and potential damage if you keep driving.

The valve cover itself doesn't do anything toward running. It is there to close up the engine, keeping dirt out and oil in. The bolts are going to be a dealer only part, they are special bolts that hold two things at once.

I would suggest get your money back, don't let them touch your car again.

Im going to tell them that tomorrow. I read it needs to be cold and something turned 180 degrees every adjustment. They should know what they are doing but apparently not so much. Frustrating taking your car to get fixed and it comes back broken.

Unfortunately some will work on stuff ***** nilly and hope it comes-out OK. The 180 degree rotation is to adjust different valves;you can't adjust all of them at once because of their positioning on the cam lobes.

I hope you can get your money back.

I brought it back to them and they fixed it correctly this time, thankfully.
