Weird Shifting Issues
Hi everyone,
New to this forum but I'm hoping someone can help. I just purchased my first project car today- a 1998 Civic LX with an automatic transmission. The seller claimed he rebuilt most of the engine when he swapped it. He didn't put a reman or new transmission in. So I towed it home got it off the dolly and it started up fine. Only issue is that it didn't want to shift into any gear. After shifting through the gears a few times it was able to go into forward gears, d, d2, d3 etc. Now the only issue is that it will not go into park or reverse. It appears that the car remains in drive in all of the gears. The car is still able to be pushed in park in either direction.
So upon further investigating I notice the cover that is put on to cover up and hold the shift linkage cable in place is missing. Could this cause this issue? I also ran codes and it threw a P1768 code. Which states clutch pressure control solenoid A failure. Could this cause the shifting issue or is the transmission toast?
Thank you for all of your help,
Brandon
