Default Wet Floorboards

Hello All,

I have a newly aquired 2001 Honda Civic LX. I recently noticed that both front floorboards and carpet were wet. Even the insulation under the dash against the firewall was wet, at least on the paaenger side. All I know about the vehical is that it was wrecked on the passenger side. A detailer told me honda's and toyotas were bad about heater core leaks, windshield leaks and so on. It looks as if someone tried to seal the heater core before. I dunno. I take it to the detailer Thursday and he's going to try and figure out where the leak is before removing all the carpet. Any other ideas of the leak origin?

If it's leaking from the heater core, the stuff will smell like antifreeze. A clogged evaporator drain will cause water to drip inside the car when you run the A/C (or defroster, in cool humid weather). If it has a sunroof, those can drip because the drain tube is clogged or the frame is rusted out. Otherwise it probably is rain water leaking around the windshield or a crack in the body where it was wrecked.

My body guy checked the windshield and said it was good. I can not smell any antifreeze in the floor board either. I think there is a crack in their somewhere.

Default clogged evaporator drain?

i too am having an issue with a "leak" in my car. today was the first rain since i bought the car.

glass fogged up, i turned the defroster on full blast.
my bare-foot passenger said something was dripping on her feet from under the glove box.

i told her to smell it, she said she couldnt tell how it smelled. so i assume it was water. leading me to believe its a clogged evaporator drain?

how would i solve this issue?
