I'd get a decent alarm and a Factory Service Manual. Then decide if you want to boost the existing motor, swap it, or leave it mostly stock. Take care of any maintenance issues.

In the meantime, I'd work on the tires, suspension, and brakes. Civics can easily be made to handle exceptionally well.

i already have a manuel, and i live in the middle of nowhere, so an alarm is not on the top of my list.....it has good tires, and a vtec. what i need to know is what hp mod is a must for now....i really dont feel like ripping the whole thing down and adding pistons, cam, crank, etc..... at this moment, so just some add on performace options will do..thanks

Well you should know that the d-series engines don't respond that well to bolt-ons. With an intake, header and aftermarket exhaust you'll get 10-15hp at the most. Then you kinda hit a dead end. Even with an aftermarket intake manifold it's not going to loosen up too much hp.

If you'll be fine with 10-15 hp and increasing throttle response than some bolt-ons will be fine. But if your going to want more power you minus well save up for a turbo or engine swap, because you'll be throwing away the header and intake if you decide to turbo.
