Default 2006 Civic, ROUGH ride

I have had an 06 Civic EX sedan for 10 weeks-- basicall really like the car.

But I have been surprised/disappointed in the ride-- very bumpy, you really LIVE every little bump. (Background: I traded in a 99 Passat/money pit-- no such problem. Same with 90 Maxima before that.) Just took the Civic on first long trip and the seams on concrete highway wore me out.

Obviously I test drove (actually test drove a different model, not EX, because they had nothing currently available), and I did not notice this... but we test drove on a few miles of smooth asphalt. The service department acts like I'm crazy, says no ther comments/complaints. But online reviews say that Honda tightened to more of a sport suspension, and some other drivers have complained online.

2 questions:
1. Is this just a symptom of sportier suspension, and a price I must pay for being able to corner tightly?

2. If so, is there anything that can be done to change the suspension to make the ride smoother?

THANKS.

Maybe the tires can be changed, to some wider tires.

civics are not like passats or maximas. i think if you got bigger tires and wider like old dude said then you would be happier. congrats on the car though i like the new civics alot.
