So long story short, I own a 2004 Civic ex with a 1.7 vtec in it and ran into an issue at 118,xxx miles where my head gasket blew and overheated to the point it damaged the engine beyond just having the head resurfaced. I purchased a JDM 1.7 with 40,xxx on it and was wondering if there is a guideline or video somewhere that step by step covers the uninstallation of the old and installation of the new. I have also purchased a new timing belt/water pump kit and a new radiator. Other than having to replace the Japanese electronics with my old ones, is the process mostly headache free? My mechanic friend is assisting me and has done many American brand engine swaps but this will be his first foreign. Thanks guys.
