Default How Can I Check The Speedometer Connection?

I'm a newbie so this may be a stupid question... but here goes anyway:

The speedometer on my '92 Civic LX goes haywire of it's own accord. I'll be on the interstate probably doing about 65 and first it'll read 120 then it'll do the hula, jumping all over the place. Other times it'll work fine. The odometer and trip-ometer both work perfectly.

So I know I need to check the speedometer cable to make sure it'ssecurely connected; but I'm honestly not sure on the car where that would be.

I'm also aware that it could be a burned out speed sensor... but where is that on the car?

So I guess my question is where?

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Your car does not have a speedometer cable. They way it's set up is:
-from the transmission is a speed sensor
-wires come from that sensor and travel to the gauge cluster.
-the guage cluster then diplays what it got.

So, if your odometer is working just fine, is the speedo gauge that is messed up. The easiest thing to do is to get a new gauge cluster.
