I have a 94 Civic DX with 169K on it. I have been taking pretty good care of the car since I got it back in June of 2006, but I am wondering what those of you with other high mileage Civics to do make sure that your cars run as well as they can. Any advice?

Your car is running?! You'd better go catch it!

Keep up with oil changes and the maintenance list in your owners manual... and don't drive like an ***.

Another thing is if you dont know when the timing belt was changed last I'd defiently get that changed.
Seafoam always does wonders on High Mileage vehicles also

I can't help but be this way being the way my dad raised us. I haven't stayed trueto all of these every single time butthey arehabits I try to maintain...

Regular oil & filter changes,(10w30 is recommended for high mileage motors)
Close eye on all your other fluids, (brake, transmission, powersteering)
I get oil flushes every 30k or so,
Get your fuel filter and air filter changed regularly,
Keep good wires and plugs in it,
Get your fuel system cleaned,
PCV valve replaced every 30k or so,
Have your vacuum lineschecked every so often,
Keep radiator topped off,

Most importantly, don't drive it hard all the time...

In a worn engine bearing clearances have become larger and a thicker viscositie oil interfere with oil flow and the oil pressure will increase. No oil pressure big problem.I have a 92 and I have beat it all to hell and I run 20w50.

main thing is change the oil and trans fluidlike u should dont dog the crap out off it all the time... ive seen civics with 400,000+ miles and accords

with 500,000+ miles on them they did not smoke at all and sounded just like a 100,000 mile car.. my hatch has 235,000 miles on it i run 20w50 in it

but it does smoke a lot, lack of maintence im sure but not from me
