Default New Engine??

Hi I'm new to Honda Civic Forum and I'm having trouble figuring out where to post my thread. I live in CA and have a 95 Civic EX that had recent engine problems and I gotta get a new engine. Any estimates on how much I should spend and where I should go? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

What kind of engine problems? These kinds of questions usually go in the tech section.

Thanks for the welcome!
Had an oil leak that resulted in a busted oil pump. Had around 200k miles on the car so I decided to change the engine while replacing the oil pump at the same time. It's almost like getting a new ride altogether!

Ouch @ oil pump. Yeah, when one goes out and the engine keeps running... bad combo. What did you decide to replace it with?

From the sound of it, he hasn't swapped a new engine in.

If that's the case, I'd recommend either another D16Z6 or a D16Y8. They'll be both the easiest and (since you're in CA) the most legal swap.

As far as other engines, what exactly is your budget? FWIW, you shouldn't be paying much more than $300-500 for a complete D16z6 or D16y8.

Thanks for the suggestion reaper2022. I wish I got that advice a couple days ago! My step dad believed the most reliable engine swap would be to purchase a stock engine brand new and have a car repair shop replace it for me. Overall costs about $5000 but my car should get another 250k miles... what do you guys think?
