Not that I'm a professional or even a well versed amateur but I do know math, say you put a $300 intake and it got you from 30mpg to 34mpg (just for theories sake not saying it works this way) it would take you almost 20k miles before you actually saw a dime of savings.

So I guess my point is arguing the possible mpg improvement from an intake/exhaust mod is pretty much a null point when you're talking multiple years to see any savings. If you're going to add performance mods to your car mpg is usually not your concern, if you want to mod your car to improve your gas mileage then adding an intake and exhaust isn't the modification you want.
