Default Lets talk turbos

Hey guys I hava a 99 si with a greddy 18g turbo kit. Its been on the car since 02 and the turbo has devoloped a fare amount of shaft play. Instead of rebuilding it I am wanting to upgrade it. I kept the 16a2 and virtually the same displacment. I am wanting to run 18-20 psi. I dont have a problem with switching over to t3 or t4 flange and running an external wastegate. Any suggestions on a turbo? If so where to find it?

if you want to just replace that one you can get an evoIII 16g basically a 18g or might even be bigger. or get a hahn craft super 16g with i think 10cm2 housing instead of the regular 7cm2 housing and the super 20g for more power
sorry i only know about mitsubishi turbos lol

With the evo turbo im worried that my 1.6 will have some trouble spooling it. The 18g is working with miminal lag though.

the evoIII will spool pretty fast still, just not as fast as the small and big 16g, you can look into the evo 8 MR turbo (i got one) its a twin scroll for a faster spool. i belive it has the same wheel as the evo 3(not sure thou) but it has a 10.5cm2 i belive. its not the same flange thou, it has the evo flange. you might be able to use the manifold off the evo 8 on your b1 thou

My turbo is just oil cooled and I really want to stay away from water cooling the turbo. Would the turbo hold up to just being oil cooled?
