Default Nitrous or turbo

I ve got the jdm b16a swapped into my 97 civic its stock with bolt ons I/H/E. I want some more power out of it and cannot decide what to do. I really want a turbo however I already have a nitrous kit just not set up yet. Should I go with the turbo or stick with the nitrous. That of course is not the only question. I am thinking about getting forged pistons and rods to take on the boost or spray is this necessary if I am looking for 200 to 250 at the wheels. Money is not extremely tight but I wouldnt complain if it wasnt too much money. I want to get the hondata s200 or s300 to get it tuned with. I have been researching turbos but I havent found any kit that I really like so if you guys have any info on a pretty all inclusive kit that would be great. The nitrous set up I have is the zex dry kit. Reliability is the most important thing for this car. I realize both ways are risky, but with a good tune and not excessive power hopefully it will withstand it. Any help would be great thanks.

boost is always there... nitrous is only fun a few seconds at a time. Boost over nitrous for me everytime.

+1, boost is like a 100 shot all the time. Refilling the bottle would get expensive over time and pay for the turbo kit itself.

Depends on how much you use it and the laws in your area. You really can't compair a gain of 100hp from a turbo to a 100shot of nitrous because with boost you get it gradually, with nitrous it is instant. Plus nitrous makes more torque. With nitrous costing 3-5 dollars a pound it will take awhile for it to cost more than a turbo setup but like I said, how much you use it will probably determine which you want to go with. Personally I like the idea of a built na setup over both of them but that is expensive and you have to know alot before you build something like that also.

Cheapest, instant torque = Nitrous
Most power potential = Turbo
Best powerband = N/A

Haven't had NOS since I got my wisdom teeth pulled, but I can vouch for a turbo. Get a kit pieced together for you. I like my chinese turbo , but you may wanna put out a little extra for a garret or somethin along those lines for reliability. I wouldn't look for any kits on ebay, local shops usually give you a good deal for an all inclusive kit. For example, a shop here in southern california sells a kit for around 1250 usingan fmuand stock injectors. If you wanthigher boosthowever you'd need to get a chipable ecu, conversion harness, and larger injectors.

I think I am going to go with the turbo eventually I m going to keep researching on it. Thanks for the feed back. There arent many local shops here in virginia though and I am definetely not going with an ebayturbo kit. So are there any good reliable kits online you guys suggest. Also for my goal of 200 or so at the wheels is forged internals important or no? Any help would be great thanks.

with a b16, no need to forge internals for 250to the wheels, a d16 can handle 220 with a good tune so your b16 will be fine with 250...

good turbo kits... all up to you, i was going to go the Godspeed route, they are mid level turbo kits, and i havent heard any complaints of them.. you will still need to buy 440cc injectors (i suggest precision 440's), and go to phearable.com and get a obd1 ecu chipped with hondata s100 for around $390, you wont need the s300 if your only going for 250whp it would be over kill lol..

your also going to need gauges, a walbro 255lph fuel pump, and a couple other little things i probably forgot... but if you go that route you can probably get the beast installed and tuned for under $2500....

Thanks for the sites and info. I really like the price of thegodspeed turbo kit has anyone tried it before is it good and reliable for my application. And thanks for the help on the hondata s100 thats what I am planning on doing now. Does anyone know any good dyno tuners in the Virginia area for Hondata s100tuning?
