oh, you might as well get one with any turbo setup, but the temperature rise from only 4 or 5 psi isnt enough that an intercooler can get much heat out of it. if the NA intake temp is 100*, and boosted, its around 130-140, then you run 140* air through a not so effective intercooler (cheap ones arent always that great) and youre running 95-105* air through it, its not going to take more than 5-10 degrees out of it. but i personally wouldnt turbo a honda without an intercooler of some sort, even at low boost levels. if nothing else, it makes upgrading easier.

In my defense, I never said you "should" turbo without an intercooler, but you "could." Guess I should be a little more clear.

without an intercooler your headgasket is history.
not to mention your turbo will be fried, sounds like he needs to be directed to nitrous, because he's to willing to cheap out on important stuff

no intercooler = all hot air going through which in turn will make seals go bad poss create shaft play, or even crack the case

Do it right the first time and save yourself any headaches later down the line.

yeah, the intercooler has nothing to do with the temp of the turbo. maybe tenths of a degree cooler from the slightly cooler ar going in, but then that would be negated by the warmer air going through the intercooler into the engine bay.
