turbo/SC
OK i just read that HUUUGE thread on some kid askin about superchargers and turbos and which are better.....yadda ya. Heres whats going on in my head.
I WAS goin to get a jackson racing Supercharger, but ive changed my mind and am getting the greddy turbo kit. for the following reasons.
1. greddy kit is better suited for my budget.
2. Im lookin for power throughout my RPM range....i heard superchargers kinda die out towards 5,000RPMS. (Correct me if wrong)
my auto 94 civic ex redlines at 7200 Rpms (even thou peak power is at 6600)....so i figure turbos def got enough room to spool up. BUT HERES MY CURRENT PROBLEM.
i want my car to be just as reliable as it is now. Im goin to have the turbo installed by pros AND im goin to get it tuned........i kno the turbo uses the oil to lube itself....and im ok with changing it a lot.........but are there any common daily problems on turbod cars? I just wanna see what kinda info i can get here thats all............ill be checkin back soon so lets get a posting ! [sm=groupwave.gif][sm=feedback.gif][sm=groupwave.gif]

Since you are having it tuned properly, you shouldn't have any problems at all. Just make sure you don't run too much boost on stock internals. Ask the guys at the shop about it. They should know how much your car can handle.
And on a side note, the next generation Mini is going to have a twin-scroll turbocharger, which reduces turbo lag to virtually nothing. EDIT: Oh yeah, and it's gona have variable valve timing too.
