Unhappy Brake Grinding

Ok so driving the car home tonight (99 civic ex) I get a metal scraping sound coming from the front driver side wheel...havent torn into it yet but any ideas on what it could be? Im thinking maybe extremely wore brake pad? But at the same time it makes a similar noise when I turn left and am not touching the brakes. Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

Not that anyone was paying attention to this thread anyway but I got it fixed today, looked at the pads and they were shot, worn down to the metal in some spots so I replaced the pads with new ceramic pads, and replaced the rotors as well. Good as new!
