Default Can I use any paint for my rims?

Guys,

Some time ago, I bought used 18" Racing Hart C5s. Condition: slight scuffs around the rim edges. Can't say for sure whether the rims are perfectly "straight" but I never had a problem with losing tire pressure including when I recently installed new tires. For the longest time, I want to change the color from the original silver to "black" but I don't have the cash to do a proper job right now. Part of the reason I waited this long is because I wanted to get the rims "fixed" (straightening, if needed and scuffs removed, etc.) I no longer want to wait until everything is perfect so I've decided to just paint the rims myself in it's current condition. Those of you experienced with painting rims, are there specific paints appropriate for rims? I found a site called expresspaint that sells 5 paints labeled for rims. It seemed kind of expensive for $30, so I got to thinking whether there's something more to the types of paint that could be applied to rims, especially since my rims are expensive and I don't want to damage them! What paint/manufactures can I use? What is the process? Also, I want dark rims as close to black without being black. Do you guys know what color this would be? It needs to be darker than gunmetal. It also should be flat or matte color. How would you describe graphite? I think I've seen charcoal and maybe this is the color I need. I don't want gray but more of a metal dark look. Thanks in advance.

well.....they make a special "wheel paint" which is sold at autozone, kregan, and problaby other stores but i dont think they will have the color you are looking for....you might beable to just use metal paint and and then a clear coat of wheel paint over that which could protect it but im not to sure....

What ever you do just be sure you clean the hell out of your wheels and primer them so the paint will stick....

I used the DIY on painting wheels and mine seem to be holding up well.
