Default coilovers or new struts & springs

I'm trying to determine whether to get a set of coilovers or just go with new struts and springs. I've got an '89 Civic with about 250,000 miles. Still runs great but it's getting sloppy in the handling. It's a daily driver, but I'm a little aggressive on some of these smaller winding Texas roads. I don't really need a soft ride, just a responsive one. If I go with new struts, can I install strut bars?

I've not spent a lot of time working on my Honda, I'm more of a 4x4 person and this is new stuff to me.

Thanks for any help.
