Default Help / Advice on removing front strut

I need some help or advice on removing the front strut on my 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe.

I cannot get the strut to drop off of the steering arm that has a threaded nut (with cotter pin). I've tapped it and tried to lower the strut, but it's not moving.

To be clear, the 2 bolts holding the "fork" have been removed and the 3 nuts holding the tower have been removed. The strut is loose except for where the strut connects to the steering arm (arm used to adjust alignment)

Any advise most welcome!
