offset
What's the best offset for 205/40/17 wheels on a 98' dx coupe?
I don't plan on making any camber, caster, toe changes if i don't have to because this is my daily driver car. Also i still have stock suspension.

That's what size ill be running when the new tires get here but right now they're test fitted on with 215/45/17 on 17x7 with a 40mm offset and they clear the suspension in the back with a 1.5 inch drop by about 3/8 inch maybe a tad more. Front clears suspension good as well and as far as I can tell won't be rubbing even at full lock. They're also exactly even with the fenders and look amazing.
Sweet man thanks.
If you don't mind me asking, but whats your suspension set up? i.e. brands, coilovers, springs and shocks, anti-roll bars, etc. I only ask because i was taught how to put things together but not how to set them up properly.

My setup isn't complete at all but its vogtland springs, kyb gr-2s till I get more money for something better, and strut tower bars. I'm still considering whether or not to buy some aftermarket sway bars as this is just my daily driver, and I'm about to throw in quaifes faster steering rack, I can't stand how slow and easy the stock rack is. I'm used to my z and my old dsms.
If your trying to do road racing or anything with your car I'd say splurge and buy a GOOD brand of coilovers(k-sports are good priced and great quality from my experience), aftermarket sways, aftermarket control arms, strut bars, do something to the stock steering rack or replace, and have it all tuned profesionally.
Otherwise if your trying to stick more for a street setup coilovers still work fine and the adjustability is nice but not necessary, but something similar to my setup would be good. What brand springs you use is personal preference on how low and stiff you want it, and the obvious choice for struts if you have money is koni, or bilstein, but if you want cheaper these gr-2s I have actually surprised me and did better than expected.
My thinking may be a little different sometimes though as I like to think outside the box and not do something to my car just because everyone else does.

For stock suspension you'll want something in the +38 to +42mm range. If you're lowered +40 to +45mm is better, and if you're slammed you'll want +42 to +45mm.
I had 17x7s with a +45mm offset on my old '94 EX with all four tires tucked running -3.0° of camber at all four corners and had virtually no problems rubbing; the only time the tires rubbed was at full lock when bumps were involved. The only rubbing was in the inner fender against the frame rail (due to the high offset), but I had also removed the fender liners completely and rolled the front fenders.

burrsg101: Alright thanks, I'll take that into consideration because I do want to lower my car but not too much. I'm thinking 1.0 drop or just 0.5 because I still want to be able to make it over speed bumps without having to take it at an angle. I was planning on going with Tein coilovers because of the adjustability and stiffness (I like the feel of a stiff suspension) but anything that Tein makes is painfully expensive so I'm gonna check out the different brands out there including the k-sports you mentioned.
reaper2022: Thanks for the offset preferences for whether the suspension is stock, lowered or slammed. like I said above I do plan to lower it but I'm only gonna go as far as a 1.0 drop and i think the +40 offset will do fine. please correct me on anything I might be wrong on.
