Default SwayBar or Strut Bar

Hi, dumb question....but im looking at getting two strut bars for my civic, and then i saw sway bars (which were more expensive) and im just wondering what the difference is, and the advantages to either. I know how to put strut bars on, do sway bars take the place of them, or do they attach somewhere else??

thanks for the help

A strut bar is installed in the engine bay, and links the two struts together. When you corner, the struts tend to flex, the strut bar reduces the because instead of the struts flexing, the strut bar flexes. A sway bar connects the steering knuckles together and is located under the car. If im not mistaken, all civics come stock with sway bars.

a lot of civics dont come with sway bars, and even if it does, an upgraded aftermarket one would be a great upgrade. they basically increase your spring rates while cornering, without giving a harsh ride while going straight. probably one of the best suspension mods out there.

I've got an 02' Civic EX and they come with rear sway bar. It's about the size of a pencil but it has one. What would be a good quality aftermarket sway bar? Should I replace the rear one first?
