Default Terrible squealing brakes in 2001 Civic

Had the brakes done by the Honda dealer and they were fine except for an occasionalminor squeal . Over time the squeal has become more frequent and louder to the point that it is horrible. Especially in the morning but also most any time. The brakes are good EXCEPT for the annoying and embarrassing squealing noise. Did the dealer need to cut the rotors or replace the caliphers?

There are a few possiblities the rotors were bad and werent changed thus your new pads faded quickly and now they are squeking or perhaps you got incorrectly shimmed pads which can cause that squel any way I dont think its the caliper that shouldnt make it squeal. take a look at the rotors at least see if they have a flat smooth surface also could be cheap pads. hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll have them check the rotors

Default Can scratched windshield glass be polished or does the windshield have to be replaced

It seems the windshield has these micro scratches in it as if the wiper blades had dirt that embedded scratches in the windshield glass. This causes tremendous glare at night in the 2001 Honda civic. Can the scratches be polished out or do I get a new windshield?

I would think you'll need to get a new windshield.

So what caused that brake squeal, anyway?

Default Never did find the squeel problem

Its my girls car which I rarely drive. The few times I do like tonight I noticed the windshield problem. The brake issue seems to only happen when its dead cold. As it warms up it disappears. Tomorrow i will get her a new windshield

make sure to replace the wiper blades as well then, you dont want those dirt to scratch up your windshield again
