Possible causes of vibration when braking
1. warped rotors
2. wheels are out of alignment
3. tires are unbalanced
When was the last time you had brake work done? Machining down rotors is not a bad thing to do, also called "turning down rotors", unless they are machined beyond a minimum rotor width.

Replace your rotors and pads and bed as directed, you'll be fine.
It doesn't matter if your car is 10 years old or 10 days old, you can still have warped rotors.......
