I'm getting new rims. They are 17x7's. I currently have 15's, with the tire size being 195/60-15. I'm looking for tires and the FAQ on the forum said to get 205/40-17 for 17 in rims. But why get not 225/40-17. The speedometer difference is only .535% compared to 3.235%. Is there a reason the sticky suggests the 205/40-17 instead? The sidewall height is .3 inches shorter it seems so does it look better?

Essentially I am getting 17x7's for my 04 civic 2-door and trying to figure out which tires will look the best. Any advice is appreciated. thanks

 

What year Civic? For at least 2000 and below, 225 is too wide and will rub. The same might be true for 2001-2005.

I recommend Kumho Solus KR-21's. Cheap 85000 mile tire. About $70 apiece if you buy online.
