2nd gear crunching

Default 2nd gear crunching

hey, iv got a 2000 standerd civic, iv been noticing latly then when i put my car into 2nd it seems to go in a little ruff and you can hear a little crunch, this happens most of the time..what can it be??? i have my tranny under warrinty for like 1 more month so i need to no if I should bring it in and how could they check if somthing is wrong??

sounds like synchros to me. i went through multiple trannys and the problems will only get worse if you don't get it fixed asap

If i was you id go in and get it checked. You dont want that tranny to go out when the warrenty is done.

pull the trans apart and inspect it for wear and broken parts. but if it is still under warrenty get it done soon

yeah, i'm guessing it's the synchros too. Hondas have a tendency for the syncros to go out on their transmissions. i lost a 4th gear already on my tranny before, so had to have that replaced.

if it were all your gears, then i'd say it was your clutch, but since it's just one, it's most likely synchros. Unfortunately, ur prolly better off taking it to a shop to have it fixed while ur warranty is still on. Transmissions are tricky...most people dont know anything about the inside of them.
