Default Auto Tranny issue

Now I know what was making the popping noise in my car when I was giving it the gas. Its my friggin tranny. Now I gotta pay thru the nose for it. One of the mechs said it was like a 'spider' or something like that that is wrong. Ugg, they are charging me $380 just to pull it out and crack it open just to look at it, and that minus labor!!!! THEN they will go to work on it and charge me.

damn 380 just to look, id buy a different one and tell them to install that. Though I don't know if that will be cheaper, but at least you won't have to worry about popping noise.

yea... aparently I caught the problem early. They said another 5,000 miles and I could have shot something from out of the transmission... like a projectile!

Ok, here is the deal with my tranny which is not so much of a deal.

The torque converter is shot. There was fine metal dust found inside of it. The flange nut is tripped out. Its going to hack 2,289.03 out of me [:@]. Now, hte flange nut has to come from the dealer because the trany guy suppliers dont have it. Where can I get a new one for dirt cheap? He said its almost like an inch thick. Am I getting screwed? Or can anybody help me out. The tanny dude thinks that it was neglect and the Honda factory for not putting it together right and my $hit is out of warrenty... damn.

talk to a factory rep and be hella cool with him, and maybe he can work something out. even just a discount would be nice. i'd just do a damn swap, even for the same motor, just scrap it or save it for building though, screw putting that much into an old motor.

too late, they already started fixing it. Next time im converting manny. When I had my 240sx, the manny died on me, it cost me $500 to get it back on the road. Nothing to it. Apparently tho this clinic that im using right now is the best in town... although I dont think the title best should come with a price. But it was also the flange nut and some other small things, like spider gears.
