Question Auto Trans Engine ECU Code Problem

Hello all!!!

I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX with the 1.6 L 4 Cyl and a 4 speed auto trans. The check engine light has come on 2 times now and it is giving the same codes. The first time this happened I had a friend scan the codes and clear them hopeing that it was a brain fart in the computer. The second time this happened the same codes came back and were cleared again. My friend looked the codes up on the All Data system and it gave no info for the first code and said for the second code if there were 4 other codes, which one of those was the first code we have, that the first code had to be fixed first to be able to fix the second code.

Here are the codes we are getting #1: PO700- Fault in trans control module #2: PO730- Incorrect gear ratio. If there is anybody out there that can shed some light on these two codes and what to do to repair them, it would be very helpful. Thanks for everyones time on this issue!!!

P0700 simply means an unspecified problem with the AT system.

The specific AT problem is indicated by P0730 (see chart below).

Download the 96-98 Civic manual at the link in my signature. Go to page 14-69 for details about troubleshooting and repairs.
