CVT trans

can anybody give me an idea what a cvt trans is ? --no need to get too deep on the subject -- just wondering how different it is

its basically a centrifugal geared tranny. once the engine hits its maximum power output, the gearing changes smoothly to keep the car accelerating, while holding the RPM at the highest power output.
