lately i've found that its not really "going" into reverse gear... ie i'll take it out of first, then into reverse and it won't bite... yes i'm at a full stop. but if i have my windows open i can hear a metal rubbing sorta sound, but not quite a clanging sound or a grinding sound... like something was not quite there, but parts were touching... if make sense that

soo does this mean that i've got a worn reverse gear, or is it just that my tranny has gone through 207k kms and is showing it's age...

ps i'm sure its only done like 50km going in reverse tops...

btw 97 cx hatch, 5spd, bought it used @ 205000ish kmsand i've put 2000kms highway on it, shifts all the norm gears fine(appart from the jumpy 1-2 area... thats me learning)

 

do you have a short throw shifter installed?

 

sorry I believe its all mechanically stock, i've not poked over everything with a fine tooth comb... but seeing as how the previous owner failed to instal speakers right i'm willing to bet thats a no to any upgrades...
