Hi,

I was wondering if anyone who has a Si with 90-95k miles on it ever noticed a noise coming from the transmission or shifter. I tested 2 Si 99-00 and both have the same issue, while in 5th or 4th gear, if i leave the gaz pedal, i hear a weird sound coming from the shifter. The sound was louder on my 00 Si, so i went to the garage to have it checked and the guy said it was nothing bad. My 99 is now starting to do the same at around the same mileage my 00 was. The sound seems to come from the shifter (might just be something loosy) and it's kindda hard to explain, but if someone ever heard what i'm talking about he'll know hehe

the shifter bushings are probably shot and/or loose. easy replacement, if that's the problem.

From what i recall with the 00 Si, it also started doing that in 3rd gear later on. Any clue what could cause the wear on these bushings ? Just wondering cause i never had that problem in first and second gear heh.

Just use.

 

i dont think its anything to hurt either. my si has 115,000 on it and ive never heard anything from it. just check the bushings. thats the only thing it could be within the shifter.
