Default synchro replacement

so when the synchro's are bad, you need the synchro hub and sleeve to fix it...
and you know which synchro's are bad just by which gears are hard to go into...

so i have the service manual that shows you how to do everything, would it be worth it to replace the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th synchro's and put everything back together with the gears that have been ground as a result of the synchros?

or take a chance on a used transmission...

and on that note, i have a 1997 dx, any d series transmission would work correct? even from an eg?

id take my chances with a used tranny, chances are your gonna need to replace gears too, i know i had to, but the person before me ran the **** out of the old clutch and gears/synchros/sliders/etc.
