Default 12V high amp source in cabin

I want to add a portable 12V DC->AC converter in my car, but every time i try to run it with the supplied connecter to run it from the 12V accessory plug (lighter plug) it blows the fuse for the plug.

so basically i need to get 12V from the battery into the cabin, but use some sort of relay or something so it's only available when the car is running or in the ACC position.

any ideas?

Default RE: 12V high amp source in cabin

youll need to run wires from your battery into your cab to power a decent converter....

id say just buy a 8gauge amplifer kit and wire it up with those wires.............
just fuse the wire from the power side.......

your stock cig lighter wires just arent large enough to power those to well!
ive always hardwired them cause the cig lighters never work!!!

and your fuse box isnt large enough to handle that added power....
