keys in beep/Radio
BUT it can burn out your ignition.... plus drains battery quicker cause everything wants to run! computer, fuel pump.... ect...
DONT DO THAT! not good for all the electronics! either get used to the beeping or start the car and let it run NEVER let it sit in the run position with it RUNNING.... thahts where thiers a accessory position!

You know that ignition switch key door wire I was talking about earlier, the one that detects the key tip being inserted into the ignition triggering the BeBeBeBeep? it's here Disabling Key-In Dinger.
I was thinking, why not just install a simple open/close switch in-line on the wire that comes from the driver door switch.
If listening to the radio with the door open, flip/push the switch tricking the car into thinking the door is closed and when not, flip/push it back for normal operation.
And if selling the car, and if buyer wants, remove the switch entirely.

ya could also just pull back the rubber off the top of the switch and with a philips screw driver just remove that screw... that unwires the switch.
thats what i do when im working on my car...

To remedy the problem I installed an on/off push button switch inside of the factory momentary door switch so when I push factory door switch manually all the way in, it pushes the Radio Shack switch which closes/opens the ground feed circuit. All without cutting any factory wire.
Hey - I'm new too... and I have a question. I have a tendency to leave my lights on
I just bought a new battery because of it!! Anyway - my door doesn't ding when it's opened and the lights are on.... not even when the door is open and the keys are in the ignition. HOW do I get that turned on? Obviously - I need it! It's a 2005 Honda Civic. If you know - you'll have to tell me step by step! I'm not very car handy
THANKS!!

Mine's a 2000 DX Coupe but I noticed that if the dash lights fuse is blown (headlights on but no dash lights) the audible warnings are also no longer functioning. So, if your dash lights don't work that's probably why you don't hear the headlights-on warning.
