Stereo; which amp/powering
I am about to upgrade my stereo system but I wanted to know if the rms on the head unit adds to what the amp puts out, or is it just the rms the amp puts out. Specifically I am going to get an Alpine head and and an Alpine amp that is 40 rms. The speakers are 50 rms and I do not want to underpower them. If the 40 rms from the amp combines from the ~18 rms from the head I would be fine though. Appreciate any info you can provide.

Amplifier is complete seperate power source.. depending on your budget.. most people just run thier full range/highs off their head deck and buy an amp for thier subs.. if you are real audiophile.. then run amp for all of your speakers.. amplified power is generally twice as good as the deck power .. even if its the same rms rating..
